![]() Not only does his mere presence send her into a PTSD-induced breakdown when she first meets him again, but he outright taunts her throughout the encounter by describing the pleasant sensation and feeling of devouring her mother's body. He's the monster who murdered Samus' parents to begin with. Ridley's a walkin' CMoA as well, albeit for reasons in which YMMV.As a Living Legend who has destroyed planets, liberated entire peoples, and still has time to save the animals, Samus definitely lives up to what you'd expect from one of the first female protagonists in video games. An orphaned human raised by powerful Precursors who has fought through her trauma to become one of the most powerful and feared entities in the entire universe, to the point that some refuse to believe this so-called "Samus Aran" actually exists. Hell, Samus herself is a walking Awesome Moment. But it was also hinted that Samus has a secret you can only find out if you're fantastic at the game, and sure enough, beating the game in a very short amount of time treats players to Samus stripping away said armor to reveal. or at the very least, a cyborg, with such lines as, "Even the Space Pirates fear his armor" no matter what language you read it in. ![]() Even in the instruction booklet for the original Metroid game, Samus Aran was played up to be a man.And she does it all because she doesn't want to see another race go extinct like the Chozo seemingly did! It's absolutely an adventure that defines who Samus is as a character. Not only does she manage to bring their evil plan to a screeching halt by destroying the Ing sent to kill U-Mos and recovering the Energy Transfer Module, but she completely turns the situation around by storming Dark Aether and re-capturing the planetary energy and returning it back to Aether. It really seemed like the Ing would completely lay waste to such a peaceful civilization. The final Luminoth Lore log reveals that the final remaining Luminoth were put into stasis pods to sleep forever, while U-Mos quietly waited for the Ing to come and kill him, hoping and praying in utter desperation that somehow, something would come to help and deliver the Luminoth from this scourge. Yet while they were able to strike some blows to the Ing menace, they ultimately did not stand a chance. They fought a bloody war with the Ing, but were never on the side of aggression, only fighting to defend their home. Combined with Moment of Awesome, the above points are extra heartwarming when all of the Luminoth Lore is read in sequence, and you realize just how hopeless their situation was.Samus may sometimes be a Destructive Savior, but her heart is in the right place, and she's very humble about the major feat she was able to accomplish for the Luminoth at large. We still don't know what's going on with the Chozo, whatever sane civilization on Bryyo among the Reptilicus has all but died out, and the Alimbic were victims of their own hubris, but at last some remnant of the past civilizations has been allowed to prosper again. What's really great about this is that Samus was finally able to save one of the advanced precursor species. At this point itÂ’s practically a day at the office for Samus to save an entire planet and save an entire civilization.
